Partners
Lab in a Lorry was co-founded by the Institute of Physics and the Schlumberger Foundation in 2004 as a result of a successful pilot programme a few years previously. The programme was developed because of concerns about the long-term supply of scientists and engineers in the UK & Ireland, and about the public’s support for, and engagement, in science.
As each of the three Labs have been allocated to different regions of the UK, each Lab has varying partnerships depending on where each Lab is based. Lab in a Lorry in Scotland is a partnership between the Institute of Physics, the Offshore Training Foundation and the Scottish Government and Lab in a Lorry in the East Midlands is a partnership between the Institute of Physics, STEMNET in the East Midlands and the East Midlands Development Agency (emda). The third Lab is funded by various grants and bequests. Information on each partner is contained below or has links to their respective Web sites.
